Pediatric ophthalmologist and strabismus specialist

Dr. Alejandra de Alba is the Deborah Hoyt and Creig S. Hoyt, M.D., Chair in Pediatric Ophthalmology at UCSF, as well as director of Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at San Francisco General Hospital. Her clinical expertise and research interests include adult and pediatric strabismus, amblyopia, botulinum toxin, infantile esotropia, eye movement disorders, retinopathy of prematurity and pre-school vision screening.

De Alba earned a medical degree at Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico in 2002 and completed a residency in ophthalmology at UCSF in 2008. She completed a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in 2009. An associate professor of ophthalmology at UCSF, De Alba is a member of the American Association for Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus; American Academy of Ophthalmology; Pediatric Eye Disease Investigator Group; Pan American Association of Ophthalmology; and Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.
